    This is a 1930s Lipton's Orange Pekoe Tea Bags Tin, measuring 6" wide by 3.375" deep by 1.125" high.  All sides of the tin have a gold background with a yellow and orange border and white or yellow writing edged in orange.  The hinged lid also shows a black and white banner announcing "Tea Merchant by Appointment to T.M. The King & Queen of Italy/ H.M. King George V. and H.M./ The King of Spain" with illustrations of their respective coats of arms.  The bottom reads: "Gold Medal Quality Lipton's Tea  Acknowledged throughout the world as the most delicious obtainable.  At the Great Tea Expositions in Ceylon and India, Lipton's Tea, grown on Sir Thomas Lipton's Estates, was Awarded the first Prize and Gold Medal as the Choicest Tea Produced. No package of Lipton's Tea or Coffee genuine without the signature of Sir Thomas J. Lipton.  Thus" signature "Tea Planter Ceylon."  The interior is silver with black streaking of unknown origin.  This 1930s Lipton's Orange Pekoe Tea Bags Tin is in generally Good condition with no dents or damage.  The outside surfaces, particularly along the edges, sides and bottom, have rusted, giving the tin a wonderful patina of age.  Ideal for use in an art project.
