Washington Irving's Rip Van Winkle Illustrated by Arthur Rackham

This is a 2005 soft cover Dover edition of Washington Irving's Rip Van Winkle Illustrated by Arthur Rackham (ISBN: 048644242X).  It includes all 51 full-page color plates and the full text of Irving's classic tale (a foundation of Catskill lore which recounts the adventures of an amiable ne'er-do-well farmer who falls asleep and wakes up twenty years later in a world that has passed him by).  These illustrations, which were originally created in 1905, established Arthur Rackham as a leading illustrator of his time and contain the traits that would come to characterize much of his art: flowing pen lines and muted watercolors, forests of looming trees, lovely fairy maidens, and quizzical troll-like figures.  The 64 page book measures 11.25" high by 8.5" wide.  This copy of Washington Irving's Rip Van Winkle Illustrated by Arthur Rackham is in Like New condition with no damage or wear.
