This is a 1916 Photograph of the Excavation of the Great Mound of Babylon under the direction of Dr. Oscar Reuther of the Imperial German Archaeological Expedition.  The photograph was produced to accompany the Annual Report of Archaeological Expeditions and copyrighted by Underwood & Underwood, N.Y.  It shows three lines of people in Middle Eastern dress digging and transporting items on a wheeled cart.  Dr. Reuther appears to be talking to several individuals on the right side of the second tier.  The photograph (with text) measures 9" high by 6" wide and has been sepia-toned.  This 1916 Photograph of the Excavation of the Great Mound of Babylon is in very good condition with only one 0.25" edge tear near the text.
