This is a US Navy Ballistic Missile Submarine Patch for Squadron 15 (TASS). Originally operational in 1973, the AN/SQR-14 and 15 were the first long-range, towed sonar arrays used operationally by the US Navy. Also known as Towed Array Surveillance System (TASS), the SQR-15 was supported by an equipment van on the ship's fantail, permitting it to be "cross-decked" between ships. The patch, measuring 3.5" in diameter, shows an embroidered green winged serpent with red eyes and an extended red tongue, entwining two black submarines. There is a large gold trident in the background, two gold chains along the edge, and the words "TASS" and "SQR-15". This US Navy Ballistic Missile Submarine Patch is in Like New condition and has never been used.
