This is an unusual pair of Old Japanese Gilt Copper Curved Floral Decorations. Measuring 3.5" long by 1.375" wide by 1.25" and 1.125" deep (at the center arch), each has three areas with a raised center flower, possibly a peony. The two side panels have partial flowers which are uneven in size. The background is made up of rows of raised dots with a simple arched and pointed top border. The bottom has a design with a flat center and arched sides. The piece is significantly curbed and has six holes (a hole above and below each flower). The back of one reveals the gilt over copper composition. The use for these decorations is unknown, although they may have been created as embellishments for a scroll or a sword (an object with a cylindrical form). According to the original owner, these decorations were purchased from Japan and sold as New Old Stock from the 1920's. These Old Japanese Gilt Copper Curved Floral Decorations are in Very Good condition with no damage or wear.
