This is a 1958 First Printing of Little Chip by Berta and Elmer Hader, published by The Macmillan Company, NY.  Berta Hoerner Hader and Elmer Stanly Hader were an American couple who jointly illustrated more than 70 children's books, about half of which they wrote (such as this one).  They received both a Caldecott Medal and Caldecott Honor Book Awards in the 1940's.  Little Chip is part of their series, A Willow Hill Story, where the animals live in and around the Haders' little stone house in Nyack, NY.  This book tells the story of a chipmunk who learns about how the world changes and heals with the seasons.  This 9"x6.75" hard cover book has 47 pages, each with a black and white or color watercolor illustration.  The cover and dust jacket have an illustration of Little Chip among the fall leaves.  This copy of Little Chip by Berta and Elmer Hader is in very good condition.  There is some minor edge wear to the book and tiny edge tears to the dust jacket (which is plastic covered).  The inside edge of the dust cover appears to have been clipped.
