This is an Antique Glass Lantern Slide of Homer Chanting Odes. The slide, measuring 4" wide by 3.25" high, shows a black and white image of Homer seated beneath a tree with his lyre in his left hand and his right arm dramatically raised. He is chanting his odes to a group of women, children, and a shepherd, who leans his turned head on his hand and his crook on his chest. The glass has a black paper mat along whose edges has been imprinted in gold: "T.H. McAllister, Manufacturing Optician, 49 Nassau Street, New York." A paper label on back provides the title. This Antique Glass Lantern Slide of Homer Chanting Odes is in very good condition.
