These five jewel-toned illustrations were taken from the 1931 edition of Herbert Norris' Costume & Fashion: Evolution in Europe. The prints show the elaborate dress and designs of The Emperor Justinian (6th century AD), The Empress Theodora (6th century AD), a Byzantine Emperor of the Eighth and Ninth Centuries; a Byzantine Emperor of the Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Centuries AD, and The Emperor Charlemagne in Full State Dress (AD 800). Each page measures 9.75" high by 7" wide, each image 7" high by 3.5" wide. Artist is unknown. In very good condition.
