This is a 19th century Carte de Visite of a Communion Girl with Blue Sash. The 4.125" high by 2.5" wide sepia-toned photograph shows a young girl in her Communion dress with ruffled sleeves and hem, white veil, flowered tiara, and a long sash which has been hand painted in pale blue. Her long hair has been worked into ringlets, two of which peek out from under her veil. She holds a dark prayer book in both hands, which lean against the top of a tufted chair. She seems to be looking towards the camera, although her eyes appear to be slightly crossed. The back of the card reads: "E. H. Alley Photographer, 324 Superior St Bet Oak & Orange Sts. TOLEDO, OHIO." This 19th Century Carte de Visite of a Communion Girl with Blue Sash is in good condition. There is some light brown staining along the edges. Ideal for art project.
