28mm Lampwork Sputnik Bead

This 28mm Lampwork Sputnik Bead has a brilliant vermilion background with applied small dots in turquoise and larger multi-tiered dots in turquoise and vermilion.  Lampwork beads are handmade by blowing and shaping molten glass over and through a torch, using tools and hand movements to form vibrant and intricate designs.  The shape is so named for its likeness to the Soviet Sputnik spacecraft.  The thickness of the bead is 0.875" (22mm) and the hole is 0.125" (3mm) in diameter.  Maker and age are unknown.  This 28mm Lampwork Sputnik Bead is in Very Good condition with all the variations which come with a handmade bead.  Ideal for use as a center bead in a necklace.
