This item consists of two sepia-toned 19th Century Cartes de Visite of George and Martha Washington Set 1. Each card measures 4" high by 1.4375" wide and the photograph has been attached to an unmarked cardboard back. The portrait of Martha Washington appears to be from the chromolithograph by Dominique C. Fabronius, showing an older First Lady wearing a lace snood and a white shawl collar. The source of the portrait of George Washington has not been identified. It shows an unsmiling older President with long sideburns, a curl of pulled back hair, and ruffled shirt with a high collar. Makers and exact ages of the photographs are unknown. These 19th Century Cartes de Visite of George and Martha Washington Set 1 are in good condition with some staining primarily around the edges of both portraits.
