She is seated with her head at the center of the photograph and part of her skirt moving out of frame. She stares directly at the camera with a slight smile, while her hands are linked together in her lap. She is dressed in a dark silk dress with large sleeves and a small white lace collar. She wears a dark hat which frames her face. The portrait is bordered by two gold lines. The back reads: "J. Adams, Photographer, Waterloo, N.Y." inside a the word "Photographs" written in a log-like font.
