    These are the 1948 Book Covers from Beginning French (A Cultural Approach), written by William S. Hendrix and Walter Meiden and published by Houghton Mifflin.  Each red cloth cover measures 8.75" high by 5.5" wide and are no longer attached by a spine.  The front cover has a deep navy blue silhouette of a man on horseback sculpture.  The back cover has no embellishments.  The interior of the covers have a wonderful red, white and blue map of France, which shows blue rivers and seas, red mountain ranges, a star-shaped compass, and a decorative cartouche with scale in kilometers.  All of the text is in French.  There is a gap in the map where body of the book was inserted.  These 1948 Book Covers from Beginning French are in Very Good condition with no significant damage or wear.  Ideal for book arts, collage or assemblage.
