This is a 1940s Black Enamel Compact with Heart and Roses, measuring 2.875" wide by 2.375" deep by 0.5625" high. The compact has a black enamel background with a 1.8125" white porcelain heart with two hand painted purplish-red roses, deep green leaves and yellow highlights in a thin brass frame on the top. The back is solid black enamel. The sides have a 0.1875" thick brass strip with embossed daisy-like floral design. The compact springs open by pushing a half circle closure. Inside, there is a beveled mirror with scallop opening on the top lid, a mesh screen, and powder puff. It is filled with some of its original powder. Maker and exact age are unknown. This 1940s Black Enamel Compact with Heart and Roses is in good condition. There is wear to the surface of the enamel on the bottom of the compact and a minor spot of enamel missing in one corner. The left side of the mirror's scallop opening seems to have a tiny chip.
