These are the intact 1925 Book Covers from The Pathway to Reading Third Reader, written by Bessie Blackstone Coleman et al and published by Silver Burdett & Co. Covers and spine are made of a deep blue-gray book cloth. The front cover shows a black and orange lined circle with the black outlines of a girl and boy wrapped in orange and black winter hats and scarves, one of which is lifted up by the wind. The black outlines of a house, snow covered hills, and a night sky with falling snow can be seen in the background. The back cover has the embossed logo of the Silver Burdett Company. The end sheets have pale orange and deep turquoise blue illustrations of characters from the book. The outside ring of images (deer head, fairies, caveman, man with a violin, lion, collie, cat, rabbit, herons with flowers, and Thumbellina on a flower) are identical with a young Davy Crockett at the center of the front cover and a young girl with flowers and a basket at the center of the back cover. The spine is printed with the title and publishers name. Each cover measures 7.5" high by 5.1875" wide with a 0.75" spine.
