This item consists of six 1924 Prints from Buster Bear's Twins, written by Thornton W. Burgess and illustrated by Harrison Cady. Thornton W. Burgess (1874-1965) was an American conservationist and a children's book author. He expressed his deep love for animals and the beauty of nature in his more than 170 books and in his 15,000 stories for his newspaper column, "Bedtime Stories." He frequently collaborated with illustrator and friend Harrison Cady (1877-1970). Cady was best known for his Peter Rabbit comic strip which was based on Burgess' Peter Cottontail stories (a version different from that of Beatrix Potter). Their partnership spanned five decades. These illustrations from Buster Bear's Twins show characters who appear in many of Burgess' books, including Mother Bear; bear cubs, Boxer and Woof-Woof; Peter Rabbit; Red Squirrel; and Prickly Porky. Each illustration measures 5.75" high by 3.75" but, due to edge damage, have different size borders (from 0.125" to 0.375"). A sentence from the text and the page on which it appears are printed below the image. They have been printed on medium weight off-white paper, which has yellowed and stained over time, in a palette of oranges, greens, browns, grays, black and white. These 1924 Prints from Buster Bear's Twins are in Fair to Good condition. Two prints have small edge tears and one print has had the damaged left bottom corner taped on back. Ideal for collage or other art project.
