This is an 1899 Limited Numbered Edition of Sonnets from the Portuguese by Elizabeth Barrett Browning with an introduction by Frank W. Gunsaulus.  The book was illustrated and published by Ralph Fletcher Seymour of Chicago, IL, who worked on L. Frank Baum's books.  This book is number 49 of an edition limited to 505 copies and is one of the 490 copies printed in red, green and black on Dutch hand-made, toned paper.  It was printed by Marsh & Grant of Chicago in the Autumn of 1899.  The plates were made from drawings of each page, which were lettered and designed by Ralph Fletch Seymour.  Each sonnet starts with a decorative letter.  The pages are filled with Art Nouveau illustrations of figures (primarily women) and various forms of vegetation.  The front cover has an embossed black leaf design with the title in gold.  This 1899 Limited Numbered Edition of Sonnets of the Portuguese is in good condition.  The book is missing its brown leather spine and has some edge wear.  The bottom right hand corner of the front cover and the bottom left hand corner of the back cover are slightly dented.  There are two small stains on the front cover and one tiny stain on back.
