This 1879 double page color print of Acanthopterygii, Plectognathi, and Ganoidei (Sturgeons and Other Fish) is from W.F. Kirby's Natural History of Reptiles, Fishes, Amphibias, Insects, Worms, Mollusca, Zoophytes, & C. for the Use of Young People, which was published in London by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. The print shows a Lump Fish, Fishing Frog, Sturgeon, Acipenser huso., Sterlet, Horned Trunk-fish, Sea Hedgehog, and Tetrodon stellatus. The print measures 15.625" wide by 12.75" high and has been printed in shades of brown, blue-gray, blue, and yellow (with touches on pink and orange) on fragile paper with a high acid content. This 1879 Print of Sturgeons and Other Fish from Natural History by W F Kirby is in good condition, having retained its original colors, sharp lines, and details (scales and spines). The border, however, has discolored and there is a 0.5" tear on both the top and the bottom of the fold line. Ideal for framing.
