This 1879 double page color print of Acanthopterygii, Pharyngognathi (Star-gazer, Cod, &c.) is from W. F. Kirby's Natural History of Reptiles, Fishes, Amphibias, Insects, Worms, Mollusca, Zoophytes, & C. for the Use of Young People, which was published in London by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. The print shows Star-gazer, Hake, Ling, Cod, Haddock, Dorse, Gadus minutus, and Eel Pout against an off-white background. The print measures 15.625" wide by 12.75" high and has been printed in shades of brown, gray, pale blue, green, and yellow with touches of pink and orange on fragile paper with a high acid content. This 1879 Print of Star gazer, Cod, etc. from Natural History by W F Kirby is in good condition, having retained its original colors, sharp lines, and details of each scale. The border, however, has discolored and has small tears at the bottom. Ideal for framing.
