This 1879 double page color print of Ophidia (Snakes and Worm) is from W.F. Kirby's Natural History of Reptiles, Fishes, Amphibias, Insects, Worms, Mollusca, Zoophytes, & C. for the Use of Young People, which was published in London by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. The print shows the sinuous positions of a Coluber austriacus, a Coluber, flavescens, a Black-backed Sea-Snake, and a Blind Worm in a natural environment with trees and pond. The print measures 15.625" wide by 12.75" high and has been printed in browns and pastel yellows (with greens and blues) on fragile paper with a high acid content. This 1879 Print of Snakes and Worm from Natural History by W F Kirby is in good condition, having retained its original colors, sharp lines and details of each scale. The border, however, has discolorations and small tears. Ideal for framing.
