This 1879 double page color print of Anacanthini and Physostomi (Loach, Herring, Carp &c.) is from W.F. Kirby's Natural History of Reptiles, Fishes, Amphibias, Insects, Worms, Mollusca, Zoophytes, & C. for the Use of Young People, which was published in London by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. The print shows Loach, Nemachilus fossilis, Cobitis toenia, Silurus glanis, Flying Fish, Herring, Anchovy, Carp, and Tench against an off-white background. The print measures 15.625" wide by 12.75' high and has been printed in shades of green, gray, yellow, brown and light blue with touches of orange on fragile paper with a high acid content. This 1879 Print of Loach, Herring, Carp from Natural History by W F Kirby is in good condition, having retained its original colors, sharp lines, and detail of scales and whiskers. The border, however, has discolored and has a small tear on the fold line at bottom. Ideal for framing.
