This is a signed 1976 first edition of Vivolo and His Wooden Children by Ken Laffal, which describes a Connecticut folk artist and his work, by word and picture.  Photographer-author Ken Laffal spent many hours with John Vivolo and his family, sharing the daily life of the artist's home, in order to develop the detailed material for this sensitive account.  Vivolo draws his themes from the day to day world in which he lives as well as from his own inner world of fantasy.  Like most folk artists, he is self-taught, and has no familiarity with the work of other artists.  The 144 page book measures 9.5" by 8.5" and is bound in red book cloth with a dust jacket.  It includes 65 photographs of the art and the artist at work.  The book is signed on the front end paper by Ken Laffal and includes a thank you signed by Flo and Jules Laffal.  This edition of Vivolo and His Wooden Children is in very good condition.  There are some small edge tears on the dust jacket and minor wear to the book cloth.  (ISBN: 0-913622-04-4)
