This item consists of four Vintage Chess Bishops, which have been sculpted in wood (two blonde and two black). Each piece measures 2" high with a 1" in diameter weighted base with a green felted bottom. The design is graceful with a narrow stem connecting the base to the top. This is the classic canonical chessman with the piece's deep groove symbolizing a bishop's (or abbot's) mitre. Some claim that the groove originated from the original form of the piece, an elephant with the groove representing the elephant's tusks. The maker and age of these pieces is unknown. These four Vintage Chess Bishops are in very good condition with minor surface wear and damage to the felt bottoms of both blonde bishops. Ideal for use in art projects.
