This is a Vintage Metallic Bullion Thread and Sequin Bird Applique in shades of gold with red eye, feet, and wing accents. (Bullions are made up of a very fine wire thread that is wound into a soft flexible hollow tube with a smooth shiny surface and have often been used on military badges.) The bird, possibly an eagle, is shown in flight with a wing span measuring 2.375" and a height of 1.5" (from wing tip to tail feathers). The backing is a woven off-white cotton. The metallic threads and sequins have tarnished over time, giving the piece an aged look. Maker, country of origin and exact age are unknown. This Vintage Metallic Bullion Thread and Sequin Bird Applique is in generally good condition, but does have some wear along the edges where it was once stitched on to another fabric.
