Three to One is the reproduction of 9 drawings by Max Neuhaus for his sound installation by the same name, co-published in 1997 by encore...bruxelles, fondation pour l'architecture, and la lettre volee.  Max Neuhaus was an American musician, painter, and writer, who was one of the first to use sound as a medium in the visual arts.  Through his musical installations, he developed a clean art and introduced a new perception of space through sound and music.  In addition to the drawings which have been printed in color on individual sheets of heavy weight paper, this work includes 25 pages of text: essays by Yehuda Safran (The Drawings from Three to One), Zsuzsanna Gahse ("How Does a Sound Spread") and Max Neuhaus (Sound as a medium); biographical information; selected bibliography; list of works; and a description of the drawings.  All the pieces are in a laminated cardboard folder.  Text in English.  This copy of Three to One is in good condition.  The edges of the white borders of the drawings and folder cover have slightly yellowed but the drawings themselves are clean.  (ISBN  2-87317-082-4)
