This item consists of Three Decks of Italian Regional Playing Cards: Napoletane Plastificate Dal Negro Treviso N.82 (used), Napoletane Plastificate Dal Negro Treviso N.81 (new), and Massenghini Siciliane Poliplastiche Telate N.15 (used). Each of the decks has 40 cards with 10 cards (1 [Ace] to 7 number cards and knave, horse and king court cards) in each of four suits (cudgels, swords, coins and cups). The Napoletane decks (which are identical) are used in such traditional games as Scopa, Briscola, Scopone and Tressette. The Siciliane deck is used in games such as Buona Sera Signorina and Cucu. Both decks were probably introduced to Italy by the Moors in the late 14th century. They are part of a total of 16 styles of packs which are used across four different areas of Italy. Both the Napoletane and Siciliane decks are part of what is known as the Spanish style. The Napoletane N.82 and Siciliane N.15 decks are in good condition with some slight surface wear and yellowing to the cards. The Siciliane N.15 box is in fair condition with missing top and taped side. The Napoletane N.81 deck is New. These Three Decks of Italian Regional Playing Cards are ideal for use in collages, assemblages or other art projects.
