This is the Sadler's Wells Ballet Souvenir Program for 1953, which was the third visit this ballet company from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, was paying to the U.S.  This tour stressed the great classical ballets, including La Lac de Cygnes (Swan Lake), The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and Sylvia (which was seen for the first time in America).  The program includes black and white individual and performance photographs of Margot Fonteyn, Violetta Elvin, Beryl Grey, Nadia Nerina, Michael Somes, John Field, John Hart, Alexis Rassine et al; color drawings of set designs by Robin and Christopher Ironside for "Sylvia" and John Piper for "The Shadow"; and the stories of the ballets.  The program measures 12" high by 9" wide, contains 66 unnumbered pages, and has a cover showing a black and white photograph of a ballerina's toes on point against a hot pink background.  This Sadler's Wells Ballet Souvenir Program for 1953 is in Good condition with minor wear to cover and some yellowing to page edges.  The pages are unmarked and the stapled spine is intact.
