This item consists of five Large Folk Art Animal Wood Beads, measuring from 1.875" (48mm) to 3.25" (83mm) long and from 0.625" (16mm) to 1.5" (38mm) high. The abstracted animals appear to be: 2 type of turtles with different shapes of heads (flat vs. round), eyes (dots vs. circles) and shells (arched vs. flat); an armadillo with an arched and notched back and large hollow eyes; a bird in a prone position with wings held tight to its sides and an arched back leading to pointed tail feathers; and an opossum with a pointed, mouse-like face and pointed tail. Each bead has been carved by hand into a lightweight wood with a distinctive grain and stained deep brown. There is a 0.0625" (2mm) hole which is vertical through each turtle's back and horizontal through the armadillo, bird and opossum. Maker and age are unknown. Four of the beads have paper labels marked "Made in Mexico." These Large Folk Art Animal Wood Beads are in very good condition. There are natural imperfections but no damage or wear.
