This item consists of two vintage hand carved mother of pearl shell buttons made in Gilgit, a mountain village in northeastern Pakistan, where they are worn by women on their dresses and hats as both ornaments and protective amulets. Each button measures about 2.5" in diameter (63-64 mm) and has two 0.125" (3 mm) holes at the center. The design is traditional with concentric circles and sawtooth edge patterning. Both are in very good condition with natural imperfections and differences.
