This is the 1987 hard cover illustrated first edition of The Flame Trees of Thika: Memories of an African Childhood by Elspeth Huxley. This is the author's best-selling account of growing up in Africa in the years prior to the First World War. Along with illustrations and paintings by Kenyan artist Francesca Pelizzoli, Huxley has included her family scrapbook of original photographs and a new introduction. Both the book and the dust jacket of The Flame Trees of Thika: Memories of an African Childhood are in better than good condition. The edges of the pages are very slightly yellowed but there is no other staining or damage. The dust jacket is price clipped and has some wear along the edges.
