Darren Vigil Gray (Jicarilla Apache/Kiowa Apache) studied under T.C. Cannon at the Institute of American Indian Arts. He was influenced by Cannon but also names Franz Kline, Henri Matisse, William de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, Elmer Bischoff, David Park, Richard Diebenkorn, and Jean-Michel Basquiat as influences. This soft-covered 51 page catalog, measuring 11" high by 9" wide, illustrates 38 pieces (all in color), including portraits, "dreamscapes," and abstractions. Vigil Gray offers lengthy commentary on each pieces, providing insights into his methods, evolving style, and personal life. There is also an essay by Lucy R. Lippard.
