This old copper batik tjaps with floral design was made in Indonesia and used for applying wax in the batik fabric process. The stylized design is made up of a detailed flower, probably a peony, with two types of leaves. The stamp was handmade by soldering small copper strips and wire into place. No two stamps are identical. This tjaps measures 5" wide by 4" high by 1.1.25" wide (with a 3" by 1.5" x 1.125" attached handle). The stamp has acquired a beautiful patina of age, including a rusted surface on the handle. In very good condition. This old copper batik tjap with floral design is a wonderful piece for decoration or for use in various art processes.
