This is an Antique Elgin National Watch Co Movement Container, measuring 2" in diameter and 0.75" thick. The frame appears to be a silver-tone coating over brass. The round container has a simple design with two striated borders around the sides and one around the interior of the glass window on each side. (The double glass allowed both the watch face and the movement to be seen.) It locks and unlocks with tabs which slide into L-shaped channels. The words "Elgin National Watch Co." are etched around the side. This container was probably produced during the 1880's. This Antique Elgin National Watch Co Movement Container is in good condition. One glass side is cracked in the middle. There is surface wear revealing the brass frame, giving the container a wonderful patina of age. Ideal for art project.
