This is an Antique Celluloid Photo Medallion of a Young Woman with Bow in an oval format which measures 7.75" high by 5.75" wide. The sepia-toned portrait shows a pretty young woman who is looking directly at the camera, unsmiling. She has an upswept hairstyle and large dark bow on the top of her head. The only part of her clothing that is visible is the narrow dark collar band of her dress. She wears no jewelry. A 0.625" cream colored border with a thin gold inner line frames the portrait. The photograph may have originally been rectangular, as there are lines (of other photographs or background?) on each side. It is possible that this is a photograph of a photograph, which was printed on celluloid and mounted on tin. This medallion probably once had a stand or loop on back, which is now missing. Exact age of the medallion is unknown, but it was probably produced around the turn of the century. This Antique Celluloid Photo Medallion of a Young Woman with Bow is in very good condition with some wear along the outer edges and rust on the tin back. Ideal for use in artwork.
