This is a pair of 1944 Map End Papers from Rand McNally World Atlas (Premier Edition) reproducing the Map of the World which appeared in the rare 1570 first edition of Abraham Ortelius' atlas, Theatrum Orbis Terrarum. Each end paper, measuring 13.875" high by 10.875" wide, features half of the map printed in pinkish-tan and dark brown on heavy weight paper. The map includes land masses (as imagined in the 16th century), oceans, a ship, sea monsters, numbered longitude and latitude lines, top and bottom banners, and a cloud border. All the text appears to be in Latin. These 1944 Map End Papers from Rand McNally World Atlas are in Very Good condition with minor bottom edge tears. Ideal for use in collage.
