This item consists of 20 Vintage Peruvian Hand Painted Terracotta Beads with designs of tadpoles, eyes, and geometric Andean and Incan motifs. The beads have been hand shaped into irregular spheres which measure between 0.625" (16 mm) and 0.75" (19 mm) in diameter. They are hand painted in rusty red, black, off-white, and cream (on a brown clay base) and have a slightly glossy sheen. The designs include tadpoles, eyes, and/or geometric Andean and Incan motifs. Maker and age are unknown. Their color and patina suggest that they were made at least 30 years ago (if not earlier) and may come from Pisac, a town in the Sacred Valley, near Cusco. These Vintage Peruvian Hand Painted Terracotta Beads are in good condition with natural imperfections.
