This 19th century tintype (3.5" by 2.25") shows a studio portrait of a young girl in a plaid dress with white bib and cuffs, standing before a painted backdrop of a window with a landscape. There is a decorative wall behind her and a patterned carpet beneath her feet. She has long corkscrew curls and hand tinted pink cheeks. She rests her right hand on a chair with one fringed arm rest and stares, unsmiling, into the camera. Both the emulsion and the tin are in very good condition. Two corners of the tin have been clipped.
