These eight cigarette silks, dating from about 1910, were made in honor of various British military orders. They include: Order of St. John of Jerusalem (Badge); The East Yorkshire Regiment. 15th Foot; 7th (Queen's Own) Hussars; The Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consorts Own); 3rd (Prince of Wales's) Dragoon Guards; The South Wales Borderers. 24th Foot; The Prince of Wale's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment). 14th Foot; and The Royal Warwickshire Regiment 6th Foot. Each has the group's insignia drawn in detail and printed in bright colors. Some of the common symbols are crowns, wreaths, crosses, and animals. There are also references to other countries, such as Egypt (with a sphinx) and India (with a tiger). Seven measure 2.75" by 1.75" and one (bottom left) is 3" by 2.5". All are in good condition with some minor edge fraying, slight staining, and light creases. Each has been individually packaged preventing further damage and removing most of the wrinkles seen in the photograph.
