These six illustrations of Japanese children were taken from the 1905 edition of Japan: A Record in Color by Mortimer Menpes. Menpes was a student of James MacNeil Whistler. He created the watercolor originals following a visit to Japan. Each image measures 5.25" by 4.25" (each page 8.75" by 6") and has been created with a beautiful range of colors from the soft pastels of cherry blossoms to the deep purples of night with vermillion lanterns. The prints are accompanied by glassines with names of the images, such as "By the Light of the Lantern," "Sugar-Water Stall," and "Baby and Baby." In very good condition.
