This sweet 11" doll is one of the earliest (ca. 1940) "Little Genius" dolls made by Madame Alexander. Her head, hands and 3/4 length legs with inward pointing feet are made of composition and are attached to a pale pink fabric body. Her blue sleep eyes are painted tin with applied hair upper lashes. She also has a closed mouth painted red and delicately painted eyebrows and lower lashes. Her molded hair has been covered with what appears to be her original red wig. She is marked "Mme Alexander" on the back of her neck. She appears to be wearing her original outfit which includes: lace-trimmed pink satin bloomer with drawstring; lace-trimmed pale pink satin underdress; and a lace-trimmed pink organza dress with a tag marked "Little Genius"/Madame Alexander, N.Y. USA." She is in good condition, although her face and legs have superficial spider cracks.
