This is a 7.15" high by 10.65" wide Mexican Ex Voto of a Woman Kneeling Before Christ. The painting on tin shows a woman with a candle kneeling before a bloodied Christ with a rope hanging from His neck. As is the artistic tradition, the two spaces (real and spiritual) are separated (by color and by angle of the floor tiles). Christ is larger than the woman. The Spanish text indicates that the supplicant, Feodora Rodriguez, is asking Christ for a miracle for her daughter, Felipe Mendiz, who is incurably ill. The painting is unsigned and undated. This Mexican Ex Voto of a Woman Kneeling Before Christ is in fair condition. While the piece has many beautifully painted details such as Christ's face, wounds and halo, the surface is marked with rust spots and lightly scribbled pink lines.
