This 19th century sepia-tone carte-de-visite (4.125" high by 2.5" wide) shows a young girl in her Communion outfit with ruffled sleeves and hem on her dress, white veil, flowered tiara, and a long sash which has been hand-painted in pale blue. Her long hair has been worked into ringlets, two of which peek out from her veil. She holds a dark prayer book in both her hands, which lean against the top of a tufted chair. She seems to be looking towards the camera, although her eyes appear to be slightly crossed. The back of the card reads: "E. H. Alley Photographer, 324 Superior St Bet Oak & Orange Sts. TOLEDO, OHIO." In good condition, although there is some light brown staining along the edges.
