This Art Deco buckle was molded in thin ivory celluloid with multi-dimensional patterns of checkerboards and swirls, which mirror one another diagonally. Four gray metal pieces in simple geometric designs (V's and "buttonholes") further ornament the piece. The buckle, which has irregular edges, measures 2.625" (67 mm) wide by 2.125" (54 mm) high. The open center measures 1.375" (35 mm) at its widest point (the sides are curved) and 1.5" (38 mm) high. The celluloid center bar holds a 0.875" (22 mm) long metal post. Maker and exact age are unknown. In very good condition with no damage nor wear to the celluloid. The metal embellishments have lost some of their luster from wear.
