This item consists of five mid-19th century sepia-toned cartes de visite (Victorian visiting cards) showing close-up studio portraits of men. The men appear to be of different ages. Several have beards. They are all dressed in suits with a variety of jacket collars and neckties. None are smiling. Three photographs have been formatted in ovals, one in an arched rectangle, and one with blurred edges. All were taken on the East Coast (either upstate New York or Dartmouth, NH). Each card measures 4.25" by 2.5" with four cartes de visite in good condition and one with serious spotting.
