This 1879 double page print of Teleostei (Sunfish, Eels, &c.) is from W.F. Kirby's Natural History of Reptiles, Fishes, Amphibias, Insects, Worms, Mollusca, Zoophytes, & C, for the Use of Young People, published in London by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. The print shows a Sunfish, a Great Pipe-fish, a Sea Horse, a Sea Dragon, an Electric Eel, an Eel, a Moray Eel, a Wolf-fish, and a Sword-fish against an unembellished background. The print measures 15.625" wide by 12.75" high and has been printed in subtle shades of brown, yellow, green, pale blue, and pale pink on fragile paper with a high acid content. The engraving is in good condition, having retained its original colors and sharp lines. The border has discolored and has a small tear. There is a 2" tear along the bottom of the center fold line. Ideal for framing.
